About this directory

Halvora Directory lists products and the local shops that sell them. It starts with solar panels in Durban.

How we compare panels

Every number comes from the maker's official datasheet. The score (0 to 100) compares the models listed here on six points. On each point the best of them gets all the points, the weakest gets a fifth, and the rest sit in between; a figure the datasheet doesn't give gets none:

• Efficiency: 30 points
• Heat loss (Pmax temp. coeff.): 20 points
• Power guaranteed at the end: 20 points
• Yearly degradation: 10 points (lower is better)
• Product warranty: 15 points
• Salt-mist rated (IEC 61701): 5 points

Heat loss counts for a lot because Durban is hot for much of the year, and salt-mist rating because it is on the coast. It is a comparison on paper, not a lab or field test: installation, shading and the inverter matter as much.

Prices and sellers

Prices are copied from each shop's own website on the date shown. They change often, so confirm before you buy. We only list businesses, with the details they publish themselves.
